High Compliance Double Opt In

Double Opt In is a legal requirement in a number of countries. Some countries have higher and lower compliance requirements and Text Integration is built to accommodate all of the compliance levels. This FAQ addresses Tier One – High Compliance Countries - United States and Canada.

In Tier One, the Double Opt In requirement is a two-step process, wherein your subscribers verify twice that you have permission to send texts to them.

1) Upon sending any text for the first time to one of your Contacts, our system holds onto your first original text and sends out the first text of the double opt in process. Upon completion of the Double Opt In process your original text will be sent to the Contact.

2) Upon receipt of the first double opt in text, the recipient can choose to reply with your short code and the keyword YES. (eg ABC YES) Or the recipient may choose to click the short URL in the text. Both of these actions are considered confirmation of the first opt in.

3) Upon completion of point 2 above, the recipient will be sent to a landing page. This landing page is customisable with your logo and contact details via the Opt In Manager page in Text Integration. This landing page requests the recipient to add their mobile phone number and agree to the terms and conditions and click the SUBMIT button. Your subscriber will then be sent to a thank you landing page that is customisable with your logo from the Opt In Manager page in text Integration.  Your subscriber has now completed step two in the double opt in process. This subscriber will not need to double opt in again. Your original text will now be released by Text Integration to the Contact.

The double opt in process is set as default for all Tier One countries and CANNOT BE TURNED OFF.

NOTE: Your subscribers have 48 hours to opt in, otherwise, they will automatically be opted out. Nevertheless, you can manually re-trigger this opt in request at any time you wish

Finding the Opt In Manager:

You may update the Opt In text content by logging into your Text Integration account. Go to My Account, then select Opt In Manager.

Customising the Opt In Message Content

  1. The text message contains the mandatory legal compliance wording required for a Tier One country. For example, the number of messages to be sent per month, Company Logo, Company Name, and Company Phone. You likely set up this information during the set up process. However you can modify all these details in the Opt In manager page of Text Integration if you wish.

NB: The company name may be different to the company name you gave to Text Integration when you first signed up. For example: Some businesses have a formal company name (eg: Advantage Financial Services Group.) but have a trading name that their customers are familiar with and they want their customers to see in the text message and landing pages. (eg: Advantage.)

This company phone number is the number that will appear in any text message, or any landing pages.

NB: This company phone number can be different to the mobile number you gave to Text Integration when you first signed up. This number is the number you want customers to call you on if they have questions regarding the text message they have just received. This is often the land line of your head office.

  2. On this page you will also be able to see how many text messages your final single text message will consist of. From a cost perspective, a text is calculated as 160 characters per text. You can send up to 3 x 160 characters per single message. (1 x 160 characters is 1 message, 2 x 160 characters is 2 messages and 3 x 160 characters will cost 3 x messages. What ever the number of characters we will send the message as ONE message to the recipient.)
  1. The section wherein you will need to enter your company's information, such as Company logo, Company Name, Company website, and Company Phone number.
  2. You will note on the bottom of the Opt In Manager page  part, you'll have the option to turn High Compliance for all countries.
